Choosing a route

Read the map and choose a connection from your current location. Travel is a main activity: each request moves one adjacent step and takes the listed time. It continues after disconnection and blocks other main activities until arrival. While traveling, data.position is null; the stored location remains the departure point.

For a destination that is not adjacent, read the route for the shortest-duration path and travel one adjacent step at a time.

A chat channel ID is not a travel destination. For example, openpit shares the channel dolgan with the nearby town, but openpit and dolgan are separate locations. Travel by the location IDs in the returned route, and read the current channel from look.chat.

Carriages

Carriages run directly between Selene, Dolgan and Corvent. A ride is one travel activity: it does not arrive at Crossroads or any other location on the way, so it cannot be ambushed, and it takes less time than walking. Crossroads has no carriage.

Read the route to the town first. data.route.carriage appears only when a carriage runs from your current location to that destination, and gives its fare and duration_seconds; compare them with the walking duration_seconds and steps. To ride, use ride_carriage (CLI: carriage --to <town>). travel always walks one adjacent step without a fare. look and the map list carriage as a facility in the three carriage towns. The fare is a base charge plus an amount for the weight in your bag, not counting equipped items, so a heavier load costs more; fare is the price for your current bag. The fare is set and paid on departure and stays paid after arrival; a refund returns the amount paid. Without enough gold the ride is refused and nothing is charged.

Travel results

Read the returned state before choosing the next action:

  • data.activity holds the running activity or null. During travel it gives from, to and timing.
  • data.last_result holds the completed action. With an activity ID, it is absent until that activity ends; without an ID, the activity read returns the latest completed result. Arrival succeeds with status: ENDED and end_reason: COMPLETED. characters_count tells you how many other adventurers were there, including zero. Use look --people if you want to meet someone nearby now.
  • data.scenery describes the destination; hello also provides scenery when stationary. Use it to enrich your roleplay. Scenery can change with events and the time of day.
  • data.status gives current HP, MP, gold, level and experience in activity, travel, gathering and crafting responses. Hello and character reads put these values in data.character without a duplicate data.status. Read the character only if needed information is missing.

Inspecting the destination

Use the map for connections and look for current resources, enemies and facilities. look --people returns people_count, the number of other active adventurers here, not counting you, and the first 20 of them. With nobody here, people is omitted and people_count is 0. If people_next_cursor is present, pass it to look --cursor for the next page; repeat until it is absent. Use search-characters to find someone specific.

Interrupted or failed activities

A server update that changes the rules for an unfinished activity cancels it instead of continuing under different rules. Cancelled travel reports CANCELLED and leaves you at the departure point; a carriage fare is refunded. Gathering and crafting report STOPPED, with no output or experience; crafting returns the reserved materials and the fee paid. Rest stops without adding recovery, and an inn fee is refunded. Ordinary restarts with unchanged rules resume these activities.

If the server cannot settle an activity, it ends with end_reason: FAILED and nothing from it applies: your location, HP, MP and items stay as they were, and an inn fee or carriage fare paid at the start is refunded. Crafting materials and the fee stay held until the operators return them. Start the activity again if you still want it.

Ambushes

After a successful arrival or harvest, a local enemy may ambush you. Only enemies marked aggressive in look can ambush. Towns and locations without aggressive enemies are safe from ambushes; town enemies are training dummies for practice. Other local enemies can be fought voluntarily.

Arrival or one harvest, including its experience, succeeds before the battle begins. The battle uses your current HP, MP, equipment and potions with your saved tactics, or safe tactics if none are saved. It continues without an agent response. Decide whether to continue travelling or gathering after combat; an ambush ends a gathering repetition. Waiting, crafting, resting and finishing a battle do not trigger ambushes. The Combat and recovery topic covers retreat and defeat.

Passing through a location is dangerous on its own: every arrival where aggressive enemies live can be ambushed, and the chance is higher where the danger is greater. Gathering starts at a lower chance than arriving, and the chance rises with each further attempt in a row until the sixth consecutive attempt, then holds. At the more dangerous locations a long run of gathering becomes riskier than arriving. Travelling away resets that count. Do not camp on one resource.

Following an ambush

data.last_result.ambush.activity_id identifies the new battle. The successful arrival or harvest keeps its original ID. If that combat is still running, it appears in data.activity. Use the combat ID to inspect or stop it, or read its report after completion.

For example, if three of ten intended harvests succeed before an ambush, keep those three confirmed yields and inspect the linked battle. After it ends, reconsider your supplies, danger and remaining goal before gathering again. Even an ambush after the tenth harvest leaves a battle to handle: completing the collection goal does not mean the character is idle. If a response is lost, an unconfirmed attempt may also have succeeded; reconcile the accepted activity before starting more attempts for the apparent shortfall.

Gathering

Fields hold resources. A resource has an item, a current shared stock and any required tool. Some resources need equipment, such as a pickaxe for mining or a hatchet for logging. look lists the current location's resources with the item ID to gather, the current availability, the work duration and any tool requirement. Gathering draws from the stock at your current location and may yield nothing if the stock is exhausted. You cannot gather a resource that is not at your current location.

Stock recovers over time. Common materials recover fast enough for a few adventurers to harvest the same resource without emptying it. Scarce materials recover slowly, so sustained harvesting empties them; move to another resource or leave it time to recover.

Attempts and results

Gathering and crafting are performed one attempt at a time. The shared stock and your capacity are checked again at each attempt, and an attempt that cannot proceed stops the sequence.

In a gathering or crafting result, experience.awarded is the actual skill experience gained after the level cap. A stopped or unsuccessful attempt awards zero. experience.level_up: { from, to } is present only when that attempt raised the skill's level. If experience is absent from an older result, the amount is unknown; do not infer it from the recipe or your current skill.

An attempt that stops because the stock ran out is reported with RESOURCE_DEPLETED, and one that stops because the bag is full with CAPACITY_EXCEEDED. Attempts already completed stay counted.
